A GARDEN DESIGNED FOR YOU

If you’re about to create a new garden, consider yourself lucky, as this is one of life’s great pleasures.

A garden is best defined by the mood it creates, often referred to as: GENIUS LOCI - Latin for ‘The Spirit Of The Place’.

At the initial meeting I need to establish a clear understanding of your expectations. We are all different. Some people like curves and loathe straight lines. Some love swaying grasses but hate prickly cacti. You may have specific functional requirements such as easy access, child friendly or low maintenance. Not forgetting what sort of garden can you achieve in the space available and for the budget.

There is no cost for the consultation stage, but a cup of tea and a biscuit is always appreciated.

The next stage is the site survey where I will assess all manner of things: aspect, access, location of manhole covers, proximity of buildings, over hanging trees, overlooking neighbours. Anything that can affect the final outcome of your garden.

Using this information I will produce several sketch ideas. With these we can discuss the basic ideas and include any new thoughts you might have.

With final adjustments I’ll produce a scaled drawing and any relevant 'mood' boards showing the location, shape, style and size of the key elements in your new garden; plus all costs to implement the scheme. If everything is agreeable to you, then all that is left to do is fix a start and completion date.

Wet spring had merged imperceptibly into bleak autumn. For months the sky had remained a depthless grey. Sometimes it rained, but mostly it was just dull. It was like living inside Tupperware. BILL BRYSON
